I was nine years old when
George Bush II was sworn as president of the United States. I did not really
understand what was going on, but while I was watching on television, I
fantasized about attending an inaugural event and sharing the excitement of the
day. By attending the Junior Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference I will
achieve my life long dream of seeing the president of my country being sworn
into office.
I hope to learn what it takes to be a leader in charge of a
powerful country like the U.S.A. I want to understand the role of the president
and the qualities that are needed for the job. I expect to get a good
understanding of the electoral process and the reason why a vote matter. I hope
to gain more leadership skills by studying the leadership of the U.S
presidents. As a participant to the conference, I will bring my life experience
as a Haitian American student living in Miami. I will come prepared to learn
and to proudly represent my community.
